Idea

I am a huge fan of football e-games, especially FIFA. The first version of EA Sports FIFA, that I played, was FIFA 1998. I have played and defeated the computer in almost all versions of EA Sports FIFA released since then while playing at the highest difficulty level.
EA Sports upgrades the FIFA game difficulty level, along with graphics and game play, in each version but with time, I have developed a goal scoring strategy that works with slight adaptations on every version of EA Sports FIFA. Using my strategy, I have been scoring goals against the toughest teams. That cannot win me a season alone, without proper defense, but it does help in getting there. Here is how it works.

Picking the right team
The strategy that I use, requires accurate passing and delivery, so you would need the team with the highest team chemistry. If you are playing a season, make sure not to change positions of the players too often. This would improve team chemistry with every match you play. Also, a good striker would always help you in scoring goals. If you are playing a version of EA Sports FIFA that does not have team chemistry, just pick a team with a strong striker.

Team formation
You would need to keep a 3-4-3 team formation. Other formations may also help in scoring goals but 3-4-3 is the only formation that works with every version of EA Sports FIFA. Keeping this formation means that you would only have 3 defenders and would need some extra effort in defense.

Strategy: attacking through the wings
No matter which formation the opponent team is playing in, attacking through the wings with a 3-4-3 formation makes scoring goals a whole lot easier. If you are unable to get through one of the wings, pass the ball through the air to the opposite wing and chances are that you would find enough gap to get through and score a goal.

Scoring
Here is what you exactly need to do.

  1. Get your defenders into possession. Do this even if you are starting the game from the centre. Pass the ball among the defenders for a while until the opposition layer opens up and you begin to see forward passes.
  2. Pick one of the wings now. Pass the ball to the centre midfielder nearer to the wing. Exchange passes between the centre midfielder and the wing midfielder in a zig-zag manner. This should provide you chance to move slightly forward.
  3. Then pass the ball from the wing midfielder to the wing forward in line. Accelerate the forward along the sideline. If you still can’t get ahead of the defender, pass the ball to wing midfielder and then back to the forward or shift the attack to the opposite wing.
  4. Accelerate the forward along the sidelines till you are just about to reach the line of penalty area.
  5. Now leave the acceleration and direct a flying pass into the center close to the nearer end of the goal. If you follow the above procedure exactly, your striker would be waiting right there to head the ball into the goal. If you get late in delivering the cross, make sure that you use the directional keys to just separate the ball from the goal keeper. If the keeper is highly rated, he might keep catching the ball. In that case, just drift the whole move a little back and again deliver the cross away from the keeper.

This move with exact specifications has a very high success rate and would definitely help you in scoring goals in FIFA.

Limitations and Side Effects

Please note that the key to scoring goals is in being as close to the goal as possible without being too close to the goalkeeper
