There is variety of ways to do it, such as using self-help books, consulting a career counselor or doing various tests, which help you to discover what your potential is.
Once your list of career choices in narrow enough, what about a reality check whether your choices really suit you?

Go to professional networking sites, such as LinkedIn and search for people with similar careers to your intended career(s). Contact them with a simple question: “I find your job really cool. Could you tell me more about it?” Scrutinize the feedback and ask follow up questions if you want more information. There is a fair chance that you learn more about those jobs than you expected.
