Goal or Problem
North Sea is well known. Baltic Sea is called East Sea in some languages, such as Dutch (Oostzee) and German (Ostsee). With a bit of fantasy, one might imagine that Atlantic Ocean could have been called West Sea before Columbus. What about South Sea then?
Idea
Today's IJsselmeer, in the Netherlands is the former Zuiderzee (South Sea). It used to be a shallow bay of the North Sea. In the 20th century the majority of the Zuiderzee was closed off from the North Sea and the salt water inlet changed into a fresh water lake called the IJsselmeer (IJssel-lake) after the river that drains into it.
